LTM4641 Demo Board | 38V, 10A, Step-Down μModule Regulator with Advanced Input and Load Protection

Demonstration circuit 1543B features the LTM4641, a high efficiency, high density switch mode step-down power μModule regulator with superior input and load protection features. The input voltage range is from 4.5V to 38V. The output voltage is jumper programmable from 0.8V to 6V with a rated load current of 10A. Derating is necessary for certain VIN, VOUT, frequency and thermal conditions. DC1543B offers the TRACK/SS pin allowing the user to program output tracking or soft-start period. The DC1543B allows the user to enable/disable input undervoltage protection; input latching/non-latching overvoltage protection; and latching/non-latching overtemperature protection. Higher efficiency at low load currents is achieved by setting the MODE pin jumper to DCM. The LTM4641 data sheet must be read in conjunction with the demo manual prior to working on or modifying demo circuit 1543B.

It can be configured as either a boost, flyback, SEPIC or inverting converter. It features an internal low side N-channel power MOSFET rated for 40V at 5A and driven from an internal regulated 5.2V supply. The fixed frequency, current-mode architecture results in stable operation over a wide range of supply and output voltages.The operating frequency of LT3957 can be set with an external resistor over a 100kHz to 1MHz range, and can be synchronized to an external clock using the SYNC pin. Demonstration Circuit 1551A is a wide Vin range, highly efficient, fixed frequency buck-boost converter. The unique 4-switch, single inductor architecture provides low noise and seamless operation from input voltages above, below, or equal to the output voltage. The LTC3113 features selectable PWM or Burst Mode operation and an oscillator with a programmable frequency from 300kHz to 2MHz. The LTC3113 can deliver up to 3A of continuous output current to satisfy most demanding applications. Higher output currents are possible in step-down (buck) mode. The LTC3113 operates with a 1.8V to 5.5V input and output voltage range. The demonstration board has been designed to operate over the full input voltage range, with VOUT set to 3.3V and IOUT of 3.0A. For VIN < 3V, IOUT capability is reduced.

The LT3748 is a switching regulator controller specifically designed for the isolated flyback topology and capable of high power. It drives a low side external N-channel power MOSFET from an internally regulated 7V supply. No third winding or opto-isolator is required for regulation as the part senses the isolated output voltage directly from the primary-side flyback waveform.The LT3748 utilizes boundary mode to provide a small magnetic solution without compromising load regulation. Operating frequency is set by load current and transformer magnetizing inductance. The LTC2381-16 is a low noise, low power, high speed 16-bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC. Operating from a 2.5V supply, the LTC2381-16 has a ?2.5V fully differential input range. The LTC2381-16 consumes only 3.25mW and achieves ?2LSB INL max, no missing codes at 16-bits and 92dB SNR. The LTC2381-16 has a high speed SPI-compatible serial interface that supports 1.8V, 2.5V, 3.3V and 5V logic while also featuring a daisychain mode. The fast 250ksps throughput with no cycle latency makes the LTC2381-16 ideally suited for a wide variety of high speed applications. An internal oscillator sets the conversion time, easing external timing considerations. The LTC2381-16 automatically powers down between conversions, leading to reduced power dissipation that scales with the sampling rate. The LTC2381-16 features a proprietary sampling architecture that enables the ADC to begin acquiring the next sample during the current conversion. The LTC4219 is an integrated solution for Hot Swap applications that allows a board to be safely inserted and removed from a live backplane. The part integrates a Hot Swap controller, power MOSFET and current sense resistor in a single package for small form factor applications. The LTC4219 provides separate inrush current control and a 10% accurate 5.6A current limit with foldback current limiting. The current limit threshold can be adjusted dynamically using an external pin. Additional features include a current monitor output that amplifies the sense resistor voltage for ground referenced current sensing and a MOSFET temperature monitor output. Demonstration circuit DC1601B is a PolyPhase® power supply featuring the LTM4607 power module, a complete high efficiency switching mode buck-boost power supply. The DC1601B input voltage range is from 6V to 36V and is capable of delivering up to 20A using four paralleled modules (DC1601B-C). The DC1601B demonstrates that paralleling modules is easy and reliable. The output voltage for the board is 12V. The rated load current per module is 5A in boost mode, however current derating may be necessary under certain VIN, VOUT, frequency, and thermal conditions. An onboard external clock is provided for synchronization and interleaving of phases to minimize input and output ripple. An internal phase-locked loop allows the LTM4607 to be synchronized to an external clock within the range of 200kHz to 400kHz. The LTM4607 default switching frequency on the DC1601B is set to 300kHz through the onboard LTC6902 clock generator which interleaves the paralleled phases.
