EVAL-AD3552RFMC1Z

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD3552R is a low drift, ultra-fast, 16-bit accuracy, current output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that can be configured in multiple voltage span ranges. The AD3552R operates with a fixed 2.5 V reference. The device incorporates three drift compensating feedback resistors for the required external transimpedance amplifier (TIA) that scales the output voltage. Offset and gain scaling registers allow for generation of multiple output span ranges, such as 0 V to 2.5 V, 0 V to 5 V, 0 V to 10 V, ?5 V to +5 V, and ?10 V to +10 V, and custom intermediate ranges with full 16-bit resolution. The DAC can operate in fast mode for maximum speed or precision mode for maximum accuracy. The SPI interface can be configured in single SPI (classic SPI) mode, dual SPI mode, synchronous dual SPI mode, and quad SPI mode with single date rate (SDR) or double data rate (DDR), with logical levels from 1.2 V to 1.8 V.To improve device robustness, cyclic redundancy check (CRC) can be enabled. Multiple error checkers have also been integrated to detect VREF failures or memory map corruption. The AD3552R is specified over the extended industrial temperature range (?40?C to +105?C).APPLICATIONSInstrumentationHardware in the loopProcess control equipmentMedical devicesAutomatic test equipmentData acquisition systemProgrammable voltage sourcesOptical communications

EVAL-AD4001FMCZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD4001/AD4005 are high accuracy, high speed, low power, 16-bit, Easy Drive, precision successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that operate from a single power supply, VDD. The reference voltage, VREF, is applied externally and can be set independent of the supply voltage. The AD4001/AD4005 power scales linearly with throughput. Easy Drive features reduce both signal chain complexity and power consumption while enabling higher channel density. The reduced input current, particularly in high-Z mode, coupled with a long signal acquisition phase, eliminates the need for a dedicated ADC driver. Easy Drive broadens the range of companion circuitry that is capable of driving these ADCs (see Figure 2 in the data sheet).Input span compression eliminates the need to provide a negative supply to the ADC driver amplifier while preserving access to the full ADC code range. The input overvoltage clamp protects the ADC inputs against overvoltage events, minimizing disturbances on the reference pin and eliminating the need for external protection diodes. Fast device throughput up to 2 MSPS allows users to accurately capture high frequency signals and to implement oversampling techniques to alleviate the challenges associated with antialias filter designs. Decreased serial peripheral interface (SPI) clock rate requirements reduce digital input and output power consumption, broadens digital host options, and simplifies the task of sending data across digital isolation. The SPI-compatible serial user interface is compatible with 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3 V, and 5 V logic by using the separate VIO logic supply.APPLICATIONS Automated test equipment Machine automation Medical equipment Battery-powered equipment Precision data acquisition systems Instrumentation and control systems

EVAL-AD5142DBZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD5122/AD5142 potentiometers provide a nonvolatile solution for 128-/256-position adjustment applications, offeringguaranteed low resistor tolerance errors of ?8% and up to ?6 mA current density in the Ax, Bx, and Wx pins. The low resistor tolerance and low nominal temperature coefficient simplify open-loop applications as well as applications requiringtolerance matching. The linear gain setting mode allows independent programming of the resistance between the digital potentiometer terminalsthrough the RAW and RWB string resistors, allowing accurate resistor matching. The high bandwidth and low total harmonic distortion (THD) ensure optimal performance for ac signals, making these devicessuitable for filter design. The low wiper resistance of only 40 ? at the ends of the resistor array allows for pin to pin connection. The wiper values can be set through an SPI-compatible digital interface that also reads back the wiper register and EEPROMcontents. The AD5122/AD5142 is available in a compact, 16-lead, 3 mm ? 3 mm LFCSP and a 16-lead TSSOP. The parts are guaranteed tooperate over the extended industrial temperature range of ?40?C to +125?C. EVAL-AD5171DBZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD5171 is a 64-position, one-time programmable (OTP) digital potentiometer?that uses fuse link technology to achieve the memory retention of the resistance setting function. OTP is a cost-effective alternative over the EEMEM approach for users who do not need to reprogram new memory settings in the digital potentiometer. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as most mechanical trimmers and variable resistors. The AD5171 is programmed using a 2-wire, I2C?-compatible digital control. It allows unlimited adjustments before permanently setting the resistance value. During the OTP activation, a permanent fuse blown command is sent after the final value is determined, freezing the wiper position at a given setting (analogous to placing epoxy on a mechanical trimmer). When this permanent setting is achieved, the value does not change regardless of supply variations or environmental stresses under normal operating conditions. To verify the success of permanent programming, Analog Devices, Inc., patterned the OTP validation such that the fuse status can be discerned from two validation bits in read mode. For applications that program the AD5171 in factories, Analog Devices offers device programming software that operates across Windows? 95 to XP platforms, including Windows NT. This software application effectively replaces the need for external I2C controllers or host processors and, therefore, significantly reduces the development time of the users. An AD5171 evaluation kit includes the software, connector, and cable that can be converted for factory programming applications. The AD5171 is available in a compact 8-lead SOT-23 package. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the automotive temperature range of ?40?C to +125?C. Besides its unique OTP feature, the AD5171 lends itself well to other general-purpose digital potentiometer applications due to its temperature performance, small form factor, and low cost.APPLICATIONS System calibrations Electronics level settings Mechanical trimmers and potentiometer replacements Automotive electronics adjustments Gain control and offset adjustments Transducer circuit adjustments Programmable filters up to 1.5 MHz BW

EVAL-AD5232SDZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD5232 device provides a nonvolatile, dual-channel, digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) with 256-position resolution. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as a mechanical potentiometer with enhanced resolution, solid state reliability, and superior low temperature coefficient performance. The versatile programming of the AD5232, performed via a microcontroller, allows multiple modes of operation and adjustment. In the direct program mode, a predetermined setting of the RDAC registers (RDAC1 and RDAC2) can be loaded directly from the microcontroller. Another important mode of operation allows the RDACx register to be refreshed with the setting previously stored in the corresponding EEMEM register (EEMEM1 and EEMEM2). When changes are made to the RDACx register to establish a new wiper position, the value of the setting can be saved into the EEMEMx register by executing an EEMEM save operation. After the settings are saved in the EEMEMx register, these values are automatically transferred to the RDACx register to set the wiper position at system power-on. Such operation is enabled by the internal preset strobe. The preset strobe can also be accessed externally. All internal register contents can be read via the serial data output (SDO). This includes the RDAC1 and RDAC2 registers, the corresponding nonvolatile EEMEM1 and EEMEM2 registers, and the 14 spare USER EEMEM registers that are available for constant storage. The basic mode of adjustment is the increment and decrement command instructions that control the wiper position setting register (RDACx). An internal scratch pad RDACx register can be moved up or down one step of the nominal resistance between Terminal A and Terminal B. This step adjustment linearly changes the wiper to Terminal B resistance (RWB) by one position segment of the device?s end-to-end resistance (RAB). For exponential/ logarithmic changes in wiper setting, a left/right shift command instruction adjusts the levels in ?6 dB steps, which can be useful for audio and light alarm applications. The AD5232 is available in a thin, 16-lead TSSOP package. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended industrial temperature range of ?40?C to +85?C. An evaluation board, the EVAL-AD5232-10EBZ, is available.APPLICATIONS Mechanical potentiometer replacement Instrumentation: gain and offset adjustment Programmable voltage-to-current conversion Programmable filters, delays, and time constants Programmable power supply Low resolution DAC replacement Sensor calibration

EVAL-AD5242DBZ

Analog Devices Inc.
The AD5241?/ AD52421 provide a single-/dual-channel, 256-position, digitally controlled variable resistor (VR) device. These devices perform the same electronic adjustment function as a potentiometer, trimmer, or variable resistor. Each VR offers a completely programmable value of resistance between the A terminal and the wiper, or the B terminal and the wiper. For the AD5242, the fixed A-to-B terminal resistance of 10 k?, 100 k?, or 1 M? has a 1% channel-to-channel matching tolerance. The nominal temperature coefficient of both parts is 30 ppm/?C.Wiper position programming defaults to midscale at system power on. When powered, the VR wiper position is programmed by an I2C-compatible, 2-wire serial data interface. Both parts have two extra programmable logic outputs available that enable users to drive digital loads, logic gates, LED drivers, and analog switches in their system. The AD5241 / AD5242 are available in surface-mount, 14-lead SOIC and 16-lead SOIC packages and, for ultracompact solutions, 14-lead TSSOP and 16-lead TSSOP packages. All parts are guaranteed to operate over the extended temperature range of ?40?C to +105?C.APPLICATIONS Multimedia, video, and audio Communications Mechanical potentiometer replacement Instrumentation: gain, offset adjustment Programmable voltage-to-current conversion Line impedance matching
