ADL5317-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADL5317 is a high-voltage, wide dynamic range biasing and current monitoring device optimized for use with avalanche photodiodes. With the provision of a stable high-voltage supply up to 80 V, the bias voltage at the VAPD pin can be varied from 6 V to 75 V using the 3 V compatible VSET pin. The current sourced from the VAPD pin, over a range of 5 nA to 5 mA, is accurately mirrored with an attenuation of 5 and sourced from the IPDM monitor output. In a typical application, the monitor output drives a current-input logarithmic amplifier to produce an output representing the optical power incident upon the photodiode. The photodiode anode may be connected to a high-speed transimpedance amplifier for the extraction of the data stream.A signal of 0.2 V to 2.5 V with respect to ground applied at the VSET pin is amplified by a fixed gain of 30 to produce the 6 V to 75 V bias at Pin VAPD. The accuracy of the bias control interface of the ADL5317 allows for straightforward calibration, thereby maintaining a constant avalanche multiplication factor of the photodiode over temperature. The current monitor output, IPDM, maintains its high linearity vs. photodiode current over the full?range of APD bias voltage. The current ratio of 5:1 remains constant as VSET and VPHV are varied. The ADL5317 also offers a supply tracking mode compatible with adjustable high voltage supplies. The VAPD pin accurately follows 2.0 V below the VPHV supply pin when VSET is tied to a voltage from 3.0 V to 5.5 V (or higher with a current limiting resistor), and the VCLH pin is open.Protection from excessive input current at VAPD as well as excessive die temperature is provided. The voltage at VAPD falls rapidly from its setpoint when the input current exceeds 18 mA nominally. A die temperature in excess of 140?C will cause the bias controller and monitor to shut down until the temperature falls below 120?C. Either overstress condition will trigger a logic low at the FALT pin, an open collector output loaded by an external pull-up to an appropriate logic supply (1 mA max). The ADL5317 is available in a 16-lead LFCSP package and is specified for operation from ?40?C to +85?C.APPLICATIONS Optical power monitoring and biasing in APD systems Wide dynamic range voltage sourcing and current monitoring in high voltage systems

Resonant LLC Half-Bridge DC/DC Converter
Texas Instruments
This design is a digitally controlled 300W resonant LLC half-bridge DC/DC converter with added synchronous rectification. The resonant LLC power topology is valued for its inherently high levels of efficiency credited to high frequency: low loss resonant switching. However: implementation of such a power converter can be challenging since the control theory is based in frequency modulation of the converter rather than the more typically seen duty cycle modulation. This design guides users step-by-step through the complexities of a resonant LLC half-bridge converter: melding software and hardware design approaches to implement a complete high performance converter. The C2000™ Piccolo™ microcontroller is the digital controller for this design: enabling the resonant converter to operate at greater than 90% efficiency across wide load ranges: and with peak efficiency greater than 93%.

ADAS Sensor Interconnect Reference Design Board for Remote Camera and Radar Modules
Texas Instruments
The ADAS Sensor Interconnect Board is intended for applications where remote sensors like cameras: LIDAR or radar modules need to be connected to a central processing ECU. The board supports up to 3 coaxial and 1 LVDS twisted pair data inputs as well as 3 FMC cable and 1 board to board connector as data outputs to a processing ECU. Camera or other sensor modules connected through the coax connector (SMB standard) are powered directly via the coaxial cable (power over coax) from the interconnect board. Because of an independent complete power solution for all ICs and power over coax on board: a single car battery or similar wide voltage supply can be directly connected to the power connector on the ADAS Sensor Interconnect Board. An on-board uC and LIN interface allow control and configuration of the Interconnect board as well as plug-and-play operation.

The AD5940 and AD5941 are high precision, low power analog front ends (AFEs) designed for portable applications that require high precision, electrochemical-based measurement techniques, such as amperometric, voltammetric, or impedance measurements. The AD5940/AD5941 is designed for skin impedance and body impedance measurements, and works with the AD8233 AFE in a complete bioelectric or biopotential measurement system. The AD5940/AD5941 is designed for electrochemical toxic gas sensing. The AD5940/AD5941 consist of two high precision excitation loops and one common measurement channel, which enables a wide capability of measurements of the sensor under test. The first excitation loop consists of an ultra low power, dual-output string, digital-to-analog converter (DAC), and a low power, low noise potentiostat. One output of the DAC controls the noninverting input of the potentiostat, and the other output controls the noninverting input of the transimpedance amplifier (TIA). This low power excitation loop is capable of generating signals from dc to 200 Hz.The second excitation loop consists of a 12-bit DAC, referred to as the high speed DAC. This DAC is capable of generating high frequency excitation signals up to 200 kHz.The AD5940/AD5941 measurement channel features a 16-bit, 800 kSPS, multichannel successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with input buffers, a built in antialias filter, and a programmable gain amplifier (PGA). An input multiplexer (mux) in front of the ADC allows the user to select an input channel for measurement. These input channels include multiple external current inputs, external voltage inputs, and internal channels. The internal channels allow diagnostic measurements of the internal supply voltages, die temperature, and reference voltages. The current inputs include two TIAs with programmable gain and load resistors for measuring different sensor types. The first TIA, referred to as the low power TIA, measures low bandwidth signals. The second TIA, referred to as the high speed TIA, measures high bandwidth signals up to 200 kHz.An ultra low leakage, programmable switch matrix connects the sensor to the internal analog excitation and measurement blocks. This matrix provides an interface for connecting external transimpedance amplifier resistors (RTIAs) and calibration resistors. The matrix can also be used to multiplex multiple electronic measurement devices to the same wearable electrodes.A precision 1.82 V and 2.5 V on-chip reference source is available. The internal ADC and DAC circuits use this on-chip reference source to ensure low drift performance for the 1.82 V and 2.5 V peripherals. The AD5940/AD5941 measurement blocks can be controlled via direct register writes through the serial peripheral interface (SPI) interface, or, alternatively, by using a preprogrammable sequencer, which provides autonomous control of the AFE chip. 6 kB of static random access memory (SRAM) is partitioned for a deep data first in, first out (FIFO) and command FIFO. Measurement commands are stored in the command FIFO and measurement results are stored in the data FIFO. A number of FIFO related interrupts are available to indicate when the FIFO is full.A number of general-purpose inputs/outputs (GPIOs) are available and controlled using the AFE sequencer. The AFE sequencer allows cycle accurate control of multiple external sensor devices. The AD5940/AD5941 operate from a 2.8 V to 3.6 V supply and are specified over a temperature range of ?40?C to +85?C. The AD5940 is packaged in a 56-lead, 3.6 mm ? 4.2 mm WLCSP. The AD5941 is packaged in a 48-lead LFCSP.APPLICATIONS Electrochemical measurements Electrochemical gas sensors Potentiostat/amperometric/voltammetry/cyclic voltammetry Bioimpedance applications Skin impedance Body impedance Continuous glucose monitoring Battery impedance
