Demonstration circuit 1677A is a dual 60V monolithic 1A step-down regulator featuring the LT3988. The demo board operates from inputs up to 60V. The outputs are 5V, 1A and 3.3V, 1A. The wide input range of the LT3988 allows a variety of input sources, such as commercial vehicle batteries and industrial supplies. The switching frequency can be programmed either via oscillator resistor or external clock over a 250kHz to 2.5MHz range. The LT3988 internal boost diodes and loop compensation reduce the components count and solution size. The current mode control scheme creates fast transient response and good loop stability. The EN/UVLO pin can be used to set the part in micropower shutdown mode, reducing the supply current to less than 2μA.

EVAL01-HMC987LP5E

The HMC987LP5E 1-to-9 fanout buffer is designed for low noise clock distribution. It is intended to generate relatively square wave outputs with rise/fall times < 100 ps. The low skew and jitter outputs of the HMC987LP5E, combined with its fast rise/fall times, leads to controllable low-noise switching of downstream circuits such as mixers, ADCs/DACs or SERDES devices. The noise floor is particularly important in these applications, when the clocknetwork bandwidth is wide enough to allow squarewave switching. Driven at 2 GHz, outputs of the HMC987LP5E have a noise floor of ?166 dBc/Hz, corresponding to a jitter density of 0.6 asec/rtHz - or 50 fs over an 8 GHz bandwidth. The input stage can be driven single-ended or differentially, in a variety of signal formats (CML, LVDS, LVPECL or CMOS), AC or DC coupled. The input stage also features adjustable input impedance. It has 8 LVPECL outputs, and 1 CML output with adjustable swing/power-level in 3 dB steps.Individual output stages may be enabled or disabled for power-savings when not required using either hardware control pins, or under control of a serial-port interface.APPLICATIONS SONET, Fibre Channel,?GigE Clock Distribution ADC/DAC Clock Distribution Low Skew and Jitter Clock?or Data Fanout Wireless/Wired Communications Level Translation High Performance Instrumentation Medical Imaging Single-Ended to Differential?Conversion

CCFL to LED Conversion Power Supply

Backlighting in portable device displays has historically utilized difficult-to-power cold cathode-fluorescent (CCFL) tubes. The tubes run on alternating current (AC) and need a large initial voltage of typically greater than 1 kV in order to fire them. Once they have fired: their operating voltage drops to under a kV. Because a notebook computer: for example: typically operates on low DC voltages (12V: 5V: 3.3V: etc.): a Royer oscillator must be used to transform this low voltage to the high-voltage AC required by the CCFL. The high voltages in the system are a potential safety hazard. The CCFL to LED conversion power supply reference design replaces the backlight CCFLs with strings of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). LEDs operate at low voltages of 3V TO 4V each and are extremely durable. They produce a brighter light whose spectral content can be more easily custom tailored to the needs of the backlight. Their brightness can be easily controlled to compensate for changes in ambient light. Also in contrast to the glass-tubed CCFLs: the physically small LEDs can be mounted on flexible strips: allowing the display to be more tolerant of and resistant to sudden shocks. The reference design: with National Semiconductor’s LM3431 three-channel: constant-current LED driver: uses two strings of six series-connected LEDs at a current of 30 mA per string. Each LED has a forward voltage drop of about 3.5V: making the total voltage across each string between 21V and 27V. With a 12V power source: the LM3431 is configured as a boost converter to generate this 21V to 27V output voltage. The design also includes a circuit utilizing a photodiode to make the brightness of the LEDs proportional to ambient light thus improving the readability of the display under all lighting conditions.

The LTM2887 is a complete galvanic digital ?Module? (micromodule) isolator. No external components are required. A single 3.3V or 5V supply powers both sides of the interface through an integrated, isolated DC/DC converter. A logic supply pin allows easy interfacing with different logic levels from 1.62V to 5.5V, independent of the main supply.Available options are compliant with SPI and I2C (master mode only) specifications. The isolated side includes two 5V nominal power supplies, including programmable current limit, each capable of providing more than 100mA of load current. The supplies may be adjusted from their nominal value using a single external resistor.Coupled inductors and an isolation power transformer provide 2500VRMS of isolation between the input and output logic interface. This device is ideal for systems where the ground loop is broken, allowing for a large common mode voltage range. Communication is uninterrupted for common mode transients greater than 30kV/?s.Applications Isolated SPI or I2C Interfaces Industrial Systems Test and Measurement Equipment Breaking Ground Loops

The ADE7763 features proprietary ADCs and fixed function DSP for high accuracy over large variations in environmental conditions and time. The ADE7763 incorporates two second-order, 16-bit ?-? ADCs, a digital integrator (on Ch1), reference circuitry, a temperature sensor, and all the signal processing required to perform active and apparent energy measurements, line-voltage period measurements, and rms calculation on the voltage and current channels. The selectable on-chip digital integrator provides direct interface to di/dt current sensors such as Rogowski coils, eliminating the need for an external analog integrator and resulting in excellent long-term stability and precise phase matching between the current and the voltage channels. The ADE7763 provides a serial interface to read data and a pulse output frequency (CF) that is proportional to the active power. Various system calibration features such as channel offset correction, phase calibration, and power calibration ensure high accuracy. The part also detects short duration, low or high voltage variations. The positive-only accumulation mode gives the option to accumulate energy only when positive power is detected. An internal no-load threshold ensures that the part does not exhibit any creep when there is no load. The zero-crossing output (ZX) produces a pulse that is synchronized to the zero-crossing point of the line voltage. This signal is used internally in the line cycle active and apparent energy accumulation modes, which enables faster calibration. The interrupt status register indicates the nature of the interrupt, and the interrupt enable register controls which event produces an output on the IRQ pin, an open-drain, active low logic output. The ADE7763 is available in a 20-lead SSOP package.
