Analog Front End for Motor Electronic Overload Relays with Enhanced Current Range
Texas Instruments
Analog Front End for Motor Electronic Overload Relays with Enhanced Current Range
Texas Instruments
This reference design is the analog front end (AFE) for an electronic overload relay: used for monitoring and protecting motors from overcurrent or undercurrent events. It is an ideal tool for developers creating overload relays for sensitive AC motors in industrial applications. This programmable gain amplifier (PGA) based analog front end is intended to be an easy evaluation platform for an accurate: industry-leading 10:1 full load ampere (FLA) range and is repeatable over a -10 to +70 °C temperature range.

TLC5940 One Wire Control--Eliminating Microprocessor Control for Integr LED Driv
Texas Instruments
LED drivers such as the TLC5940 provide many integrated features that require a microprocessor interface to use. When these features are not needed the TLC5940 can be configured with a single-wire interface for simple on/off control. This provides a low-cost solution to drive multiple LEDs with tight current matching while still allowing for PWM dimming in applications such as backlighting or gen

High Efficiency Class 4 PoE Powered Device
Texas Instruments
This report introduces a high-efficiency Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Powered Device (PD) that complies with the Type 2 Class 4 power requirements outlined in the IEEE802.3at Draft 3.3 standard. The standard permits a Type 2 Class 4 PD to draw up to 25.5 W of power at the Power Interface (PI) when connected to compatible Type 2 Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) using Type 2 compliant cabling. A fully

Measuring Board Parasitics in High-Speed Analog Design
Texas Instruments
Successful circuit designs using high-speed amplifiers can depend upon understanding and identifying parasitic PCB components. Simulating a design while including PCB parasitics can protect against unpleasant production surprises. This application report discusses an easy method for measuring parasitic components in a prototype or final PC board design by using a standard oscilloscope and low freq

TMS320C40 Emulator TIPs
Texas Instruments
This document discusses special precautions that need to be taken when working with the TMS320C40 emulator. There are several potential problem situations:? The debugger will break any pending CPU/DMA access that is not completed within the time-out period. ? Comm port logic stops when the emulator is halting the device (in a breakpoint or between single steps). (However you can still wor

CC2541-TPS62730EM Reference Design
Texas Instruments
The CC2541EM-TPS62730EM reference design contains schematics and layout files for the CC2541EM-TPS62730EM module. The reference design demonstrates good techniques for CC2541 decoupling and RF layout. For optimum RF performance: the reference design should be copied accurately. This is a 4-layer reference design with an SMA antenna connector for RF output matched to 50 ohm. Along with that: it shows the proper way to supply the CC2541 with the TPS62730 DC/DC converter for current savings of up to 30% in active mode. The TPS62730 converter is controlled by the CC2541.

36Vdc-75Vdc Input: 5V @ 25A Output: 94% Efficient Active Clamp Forward
Texas Instruments
The PMP5753 reference design provides 5V at 125W from a standard 48V telecom input with greater than 94% efficiency. This design uses the UCC2897A active clamp controller along with self-driven synchronous rectifiers. Texas Instruments NexFET technology is used for the synchronous rectifiers: improving the efficiency by nearly 2% over conventional MOSFETs. The output voltage can be adjusted up to 7V.

Indoor Light Energy Harvesting Reference Design for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacon Subsystem
Texas Instruments
The Indoor Light Energy Harvesting Reference Design for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacon Subsystem provides a solution where by with just the power of the typical indoor lighting in a retail environment (greater than 250 LUX) the Bluetooth Low Energy chip can broadcast BLE beacons. This subsystem reference design is highly differentiated over existing solutions as it incorporates no batteries: thus eliminating the hassle of battery replacement: battery charging: and saving costs associated with battery maintenance. This solution also ensures that there are no constraints around installation as long as there is typical indoor lighting available. There is also no ON/OFF switch; the entire load connection and disconnection is handled by the power management IC therefore ensuring that the solution is self managing.
