Primary-Side Regulated Flyback for Universal AC Input and 15V/0.25A Output Reference Design
Texas Instruments
The PMP9171 reference design uses the UCC28910 primary-side regulated flyback controller with integrated MOSFET to generate a 15V/0.25A output from an univeral AC input with safety isolation rated transformer. 80% efficiency is achieved at full load and less than 130mW power consumption is observed during no load condition.

Hotswap Design Using TPS2490/91 and MOSFET Transient Thermal Response
Texas Instruments
Hotswap circuits rely on the thermal capacitance of the series-limiting MOSFET to dissipate the large transient energy under current- or power-limit operation. The peakjunction temperature must be controlled in order to achieve a robust design. The constant-power MOSFET protection of the TPS2490 provides a simple method to useinformation provided by MOSFET manufacturers to determine peak junct

The AD9671 is designed for low cost, low power, small size, andease of use for medical ultrasound applications. It contains eightchannels of a VGA with an LNA, a CW harmonic rejection I/Qdemodulator with programmable phase rotation, an AAF, anADC, and a digital demodulator and decimator for dataprocessing and bandwidth reduction. Each channel features a maximum gain of up to 52 dB, a fullydifferential signal path, and an active input preamplifier termination. The channel is optimized for high dynamic performance andlow power in applications where a small package size is critical. The LNA has a single-ended to differential gain that is selectablethrough the serial port interface (SPI). Assuming a 15 MHz noisebandwidth (NBW) and a 21.6 dB LNA gain, the LNA input SNRis 94 dB. In CW Doppler mode, each LNA output drives an I/Qdemodulator that has independently programmable phaserotation with 16 phase settings.Power-down of individual channels is supported to increasebattery life for portable applications. Standby mode allows quickpower-up for power cycling. In CW Doppler operation, theVGA, AAF, and ADC are powered down. The ADC containsseveral features designed to maximize flexibility and minimizesystem cost, such as a programmable clock, data alignment, andprogrammable digital test pattern generation. The digital testpatterns include built-in fixed patterns, built-in pseudorandompatterns, and custom user defined test patterns entered via the SPI.Applications Medical imaging/ultrasound Nondestructive testing (NDT)

Transformer-isolated communication protocol replaces expensive opto-couplers and complex isolated 3.3V supply resulting in significant BOM cost savings. The LTC4270/LTC4271 chipset delivers lowest-in-industry heat dissipation by utilizing low-RDS(ON) external MOSFETs and 0.25? sense resistors.Advanced power management features include per-port 12?bit current monitoring ADCs, DAC-programmable current limit, and versatile fast shut-down of preselected ports. Advanced power management host software is available under a no-cost license. PD discovery uses a proprietary dual-mode 4-point detection mechanism ensuring excellent immunity from false PD detection. Midspan PSEs are supported with 2-event classification and a 2 second backoff timer. The LTC4270/LTC4271 includes an I2C serial interface operable up to 1MHz.The LTC4270/LTC4271 is available in multiple power grades allowing delivered PD power up to 90W.Applications PoE PSE Switches/Routers PoE PSE Midspans

The ADL5390 vector multiplier consists of a matched pair of broadband variable gain amplifiers whose outputs are summed. The separate gain controls for each amplifier are linear-in-magnitude. If the two input RF signals are in quadrature, the vector multiplier can be configured as a vector modulator or as a variable attenuator/phase shifter by using the gain control pins as Cartesian variables. In this case, the output amplitude can be controlled from a maximum of +5 dB to less than -30 dB, and the phase can be shifted continuously over the entire 360? range. Since the signal paths are linear, the original modulation on the inputs is preserved. If the two signals are independent, then the vector multiplier can function as a 2:1 multiplexer or can provide fading from one channel to another. The ADL5390 operates over a wide frequency range of 20 MHz to 2400 MHz. For a maximum gain setting on one channel at 380 MHz, the ADL5390 delivers an OP1dB of 11 dBm, an OIP3 of 24 dBm, and an output noise floor of -148 dBm/Hz. The gain and phase matching between the two VGAs is better than 0.5 dB and 1?, respectively, over most of the operating range. The ADL5390 is fabricated on Analog Devices' proprietary, high performance 25 GHz SOI complementary bipolar IC process. It is available in a 24-lead, Pb-free CSP package and operates over a -40?C to +85?C temperature range. Design Considerations for the UCC28600 (Rev. B)
Texas Instruments
The UCC28600 Quasi-Resonant Green-Mode Controller provides engineers with a cost-effective solution for designing energy efficient power supplies. Despite the 8-pin package the device has many built-in advanced protection features. Because most of the pins on the device have dual functions careful attention must be given to the design and layout of the circuit. What follows is a brief discuss

AN063: Using CC2591 RF Front End with CC2430
Texas Instruments
The CC2430 is a true System-on-Chip (SoC) specifically tailored for IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee applications. It enables ZigBee nodes to be built with very low total bill-of-material costs.
CC2591 is a range extender for all existing and future low-power 2.4-GHz RF transceivers, transmitters and SoC products from Texas Instruments.
CC2591 increases the link budget by providing a Power Amplifier (PA) for improved output power and a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) with a low noise figure for improved receiver sensitivity. CC2591 further contains RF switches, RF matching and a balun for a seamless interface with the CC2430. This allows for simple design of high performance wireless applications.
This application note describes how to implement the CC2430 and the CC2591 in the same design. It further describes the expected performance from this combination as well as important factors to consider with respect to the layout and regulatory requirements. The combined CC2430 and CC2591 solution is suitable for systems targeting compliance with FCC CFR47 Part 15.
The RF front end of CC2430 is the same as the ones being used in CC2431 and in CC2480. The presented results in this application note are therefore also valid for CC2431 and CC2480.
