The ADAQ23876 is a precision, high speed, ?Module? data acquisition solution that reduces the development cycle of a precision measurement systems by transferring the design burden of component selection, optimization, and layout from the designer to the device.Using System-in-Package (SIP) technology, the ADAQ23876 reduces end system component count by combining multiple common signal processing and conditioning blocks in a single device, including a low noise, fully differential ADC driver (FDA), a stable reference buffer, and a high speed, 16-bit, 15 MSPS successive approximation register (SAR) ADC.The ADAQ23876 also incorporates the critical passive components with superior matching and drift characteristics using Analog Devices, Inc., iPassive? technology to minimize temperature dependent error sources and to offer optimized performance. The fast settling of the ADC driver stage and no latency of the SAR ADC provide a unique solution for high channel count multiplexed signal chain architectures and control loop applications. The small footprint, 9 mm ? 9 mm BGA package enables smaller form factor instruments without sacrificing performance. The system integration solves many design challenges while the device still provides the flexibility of a configurable ADC driver feedback loop to allow gain or attenuation adjustments, as well as fully differential or single-ended to differential input. A single 5 V supply operation is possible while achieving optimum performance from the device. The ADAQ23876 features a serial LVDS digital interface with one-lane or two-lane output modes, allowing the user to optimize the interface data rate for each application. The specified operation of the ?Module is from ?40?C to +85?C.APPLICATIONS Automatic test equipment Data acquisition Hardware in the Loop (HiL) Power analyzers Nondestructive test (acoustic emissions) Mass spectrometry Traveling wave fault location Medical imaging and instruments?

The LTM2887 is a complete galvanic digital ?Module? (micromodule) isolator. No external components are required. A single 3.3V or 5V supply powers both sides of the interface through an integrated, isolated DC/DC converter. A logic supply pin allows easy interfacing with different logic levels from 1.62V to 5.5V, independent of the main supply.Available options are compliant with SPI and I2C (master mode only) specifications. The isolated side includes two 5V nominal power supplies, including programmable current limit, each capable of providing more than 100mA of load current. The supplies may be adjusted from their nominal value using a single external resistor.Coupled inductors and an isolation power transformer provide 2500VRMS of isolation between the input and output logic interface. This device is ideal for systems where the ground loop is broken, allowing for a large common mode voltage range. Communication is uninterrupted for common mode transients greater than 30kV/?s.Applications Isolated SPI or I2C Interfaces Industrial Systems Test and Measurement Equipment Breaking Ground Loops

The ADL5504 is a TruPwr? mean-responding (true rms) power detector for use in high frequency receiver and transmitter signal chains from 450 MHz to 6000 MHz. Requiring only a single supply between 2.5 V and 3.3 V, the detector draws less than 1.8 mA. The input is internally ac-coupled and has a nominal input impedance of 500 ?. The rms output is a linear-responding dc voltage with a conversion gain of 1.87 V/V rms at 900 MHz.The ADL5504 is a highly accurate, easy to use means of determining the rms of complex waveforms. It can be used for power measurements of both simple and complex waveforms but is particularly useful for measuring high crest factor (high peak-to-rms ratio) signals, such as W-CDMA, CDMA2000, WiMAX, WLAN, and LTE waveforms. The on-chip modulation filter provides adequate averaging for most waveforms. For more complex waveforms, an external capacitor at the FLTR pin can be used for supplementary signal demodulation. An on-chip, 100 ? series resistance at the output, combined with an external shunt capacitor, creates a low-pass filter response that reduces the residual ripple in the dc output voltage. The ADL5504 offers excellent temperature stability across a 30 dB range and near 0 dB measurement error across temperature over the top portion of the dynamic range. In addition to its temperature stability, the ADL5504 offers low process variations that further reduce calibration complexity. The power detector operates from ?40?C to +85?C and is available in a 6-ball, 0.8 mm ? 1.2 mm, wafer level chip scale package. It is fabricated on a high fT silicon BiCMOS process.Applications Power measurement of W-CDMA, CDMA2000, QPSK-/QAM-based OFDM (LTE and WiMAX), and other complex modulation waveforms RF transmitter or receiver power measurement

Using Advanced Event Triggering to Debug Real-Time Problems in Embedded Systems
Texas Instruments
As more and more system components become embedded within the system processor chip new techniques are required for debug. Signals and busses that were historically available for probe connection at external package pins are now hidden from the users within the processor package. This problem is referred to as vanishing visibility meaning that the user can no longer employ traditional techniques

CCFL to LED Conversion Power Supply
Texas Instruments
Backlighting in portable device displays has historically utilized difficult-to-power cold cathode-fluorescent (CCFL) tubes. The tubes run on alternating current (AC) and need a large initial voltage of typically greater than 1 kV in order to fire them. Once they have fired: their operating voltage drops to under a kV. Because a notebook computer: for example: typically operates on low DC voltages (12V: 5V: 3.3V: etc.): a Royer oscillator must be used to transform this low voltage to the high-voltage AC required by the CCFL. The high voltages in the system are a potential safety hazard. The CCFL to LED conversion power supply reference design replaces the backlight CCFLs with strings of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). LEDs operate at low voltages of 3V TO 4V each and are extremely durable. They produce a brighter light whose spectral content can be more easily custom tailored to the needs of the backlight. Their brightness can be easily controlled to compensate for changes in ambient light. Also in contrast to the glass-tubed CCFLs: the physically small LEDs can be mounted on flexible strips: allowing the display to be more tolerant of and resistant to sudden shocks. The reference design: with National Semiconductor’s LM3431 three-channel: constant-current LED driver: uses two strings of six series-connected LEDs at a current of 30 mA per string. Each LED has a forward voltage drop of about 3.5V: making the total voltage across each string between 21V and 27V. With a 12V power source: the LM3431 is configured as a boost converter to generate this 21V to 27V output voltage. The design also includes a circuit utilizing a photodiode to make the brightness of the LEDs proportional to ambient light thus improving the readability of the display under all lighting conditions.
