Direct Type/ Local Dimming (Conventional TV power + Boost + LED driver)
Texas Instruments
In this topology: the UCC28051 is a boost transition mode (TM) power factor corrector (PFC): which can rectify an AC input line voltage to 380V DC; the resonant LLC stage UCC25600 regulates the output to 24V/2A for an audio amplifier with feedback to the LLC controller: and 48V for the LED driver input. The flyback with UCC28610 in parallel generates 5V/3A for the system board and 5V/1A for standby power. In the LED driver stage: the 48V input voltage requires another front end boost stage to boost the output voltage to 80V: which connects to the eight-channel TLC5960 with 20LEDs at 120mA per string. This technique is the most common type of current LED backlight; the LLC design is easily implemented. The intelligent headroom voltage monitor (oriHVMâ„¢) automatically minimizes the power loss caused by the LED forward voltage change. Only a single additional resistor regulates the boost dc-dc output voltage.

ADM1270RQ-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADM1270 is a current-limiting controller that providesinrush current limiting and overcurrent protection for modularor battery-powered systems. When circuit boards are insertedinto a live backplane, discharged supply bypass capacitors drawlarge transient currents from the backplane power bus as theycharge. These transient currents can cause permanent damageto connector pins, as well as dips on the backplane supply thatcan reset other boards in the system. The ADM1270 is designed to control the inrush current, whenpowering on the system, via an external P-channel field effecttransistor (FET).To protect the system from a reverse polarity input supply, thereis a provision made to control an additional external P-channelFET. This feature prevents reverse current flow in case of a reversepolarity connection, which can damage the load or the ADM1270.The ADM1270 is available in a 3 mm ? 3 mm, 16-lead LFCSP anda 16-lead QSOP. AN063: Using CC2591 RF Front End with CC2430
Texas Instruments
The CC2430 is a true System-on-Chip (SoC) specifically tailored for IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee applications. It enables ZigBee nodes to be built with very low total bill-of-material costs.
CC2591 is a range extender for all existing and future low-power 2.4-GHz RF transceivers, transmitters and SoC products from Texas Instruments.
CC2591 increases the link budget by providing a Power Amplifier (PA) for improved output power and a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) with a low noise figure for improved receiver sensitivity. CC2591 further contains RF switches, RF matching and a balun for a seamless interface with the CC2430. This allows for simple design of high performance wireless applications.
This application note describes how to implement the CC2430 and the CC2591 in the same design. It further describes the expected performance from this combination as well as important factors to consider with respect to the layout and regulatory requirements. The combined CC2430 and CC2591 solution is suitable for systems targeting compliance with FCC CFR47 Part 15.
The RF front end of CC2430 is the same as the ones being used in CC2431 and in CC2480. The presented results in this application note are therefore also valid for CC2431 and CC2480.

The ADAQ4001 is a ?Module? precision data acquisition (DAQ), signal chain solution that reduces the development cycle of a precision measurement system by transferring the signal chain design challenge of component selection, optimization, and layout from the designer to the device. Using system-in-package (SIP) technology, the ADAQ4001 reduces end system component count by combining multiple common signal processing and conditioning blocks into a single device. These blocks include a high resolution 16-bit, 2 MSPS successive approximation register (SAR), analog-to-digital converter (ADC), a low noise, fully differential ADC driver amplifier (FDA), and a stable reference buffer. Using Analog Devices, Inc., iPassives? technology, the ADAQ4001 also incorporates crucial passive components with superior matching and drift characteristics to minimize temperature dependent error sources and to offer optimized performance (see Figure 1 in the data sheet). Housing this signal chain solution in a small, 7 mm ? 7 mm, 0.80 mm pitch, 49-ball CSP_BGA enables compact form factor designs without sacrificing performance and simplifies end system bill of materials management. This level of system integration makes the ADAQ4001 much less sensitive to printed circuit board (PCB) layout while still providing flexibility to adapt to a wide range of signal levels. The serial peripheral interface (SPI)-compatible, serial user interface is compatible with 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3 V, or 5 V logic, using a separate VIO supply. Specified operation of the ADAQ4001 is from ?40?C to +125?C.APPLICATIONSAutomatic test equipmentMachine automationProcess controlsMedical instrumentationDigital control loops

ADL5920-EVALZ
Analog Devices Inc.
The ADL5920 is an ultrawideband, bidirectional detector that simultaneously measures forward and reverse rms power levels in a signal path, along with the return loss. The forward and reverse power traveling through the integrated bidirectional bridge is measured using two 50 dB linear in dB rms detectors. The detector output voltages, available at the VRMSF and VRMSR pins, are proportional to the forward and reflected power in dBm. A third, differential, output produces a voltage proportional to the return loss (reflection coefficient) in dB, closely related to the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR). The common-mode level of this output is externally adjustable through the VOCM pin.The primary transmission line of the bidirectional bridge, from RFIN to RFOUT (or vice versa) is dc-coupled and allows small amounts of dc bias current through the bridge. When dc-coupled to source and load, the positive and negative supply pins of the ADL5920 must be connected to +5 V and ?2.5 V, respectively (relative to the dc voltage at RFIN and RFOUT). The internal detector circuitry is also dc-coupled to the directional bridge to support measurements down to 9 kHz.The maximum input signal on each of the RF ports (RFIN and RFOOUT) is 30 dBm for open and shorted terminations and 33 dBm for a matched termination. The ADL5920 draws 160 mA from a 5 V supply and has a low power, power-down mode controlled through the PWDN/TADJS pin.The device is supplied in a 32-lead, 5 mm ? 5 mm LFCSP and is specified for ambient operating temperatures in the ?40?C to +85?C range.Multifunction pin names may be referenced by their relevant function only.Applications Industrial metering Broadband inline power and return loss measurement Transmit power control and automatic level control in wireless transmitters, signal generators, network analyzers, and wireless communications testers Condition based monitoring of system modules, cables, and connectors
