2.5V to 5V, 600kHz, High-Eff Synch Boost Converter With TPS43000 PWM Controller

Texas Instruments
The application report describes the functionalities of the TPS43000 controller and explains the design procedures of a step-up application from 2.5 V to 5.0 V.

TMS320C6000 Expansion Bus Host Interface Performance

Texas Instruments
The expansion bus is a 32-bit wide bus that supports interfaces to PCI bridge chips to synchronous or asynchronous external masters to a variety of asynchronous peripherals and to asynchronous or synchronous FIFOs. The expansion bus has two major subblocks?the I/O port and host port Interface. This application report discusses performance of the TMS320C6000? expansion bus host port. The expansi

Basic Design Considerations for Backplanes (Rev. B)

Texas Instruments
This application report describes design issues relevant to the parallel backplanes typically used in the wireless datacom telecom and networking markets. Designing a high-performance backplane is extremely complex because issues such as distributed capacitance stub lengths noise margin rise time (slew rate) flight time and propagation delay must be defined and optimized to achieve good s

Measuring Efficiency of the bq25504 Energy Harvesting Battery Charger

Texas Instruments
This application note explains how the data for the bq25504 data sheet efficiency curves was measured.

High Speed Data Conversion

Texas Instruments
The design considerations for high-speed data conversion are in many ways similar to those for data conversion in general. High speed circuits may sometimes seem different because device types can be limited and only certain design techniques and architectures can be used with success. But the basics are the same. High speed circuits or systems are really those that tend to press the limits of s

Example of GEL Usage with File I/O for Code Composer Studio v2.0

Texas Instruments
This application report discusses some of the general attributes of the General Extension Language (GEL) that is supported by and included with Code Composer Studio? (CCStudio) Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Certain features that will be outlined are automated testing with GEL workspace customization and common CCStudio tool usage such as File I/O. GEL will be briefly discussed and th

Operating RS-485 Transceivers at Fast Signaling Rates

Texas Instruments
The TIA/EIA-485-A standard specifies characteristics for RS-485 signaling. Most applications operate below 10 Mbps but it is often possible to signal at higher rates. This application report examines

A Universal Control Sys for Field-Oriented Control of AC Machines- TMS320C14

Texas Instruments
The purpose of this paper is to present a universal controller system used in field oriented control method of ac machines. This controller system uses one Texas Instruments (TI(TM)) TMS320C14 digital signal processor (DSP) four analog-to-digital converters (ADC) three operation amplifiers two current sensors and a resolver. The digital values of sine and cosine functions of the rotor position

Throughput Performance Guide for C66x KeyStone Devices (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
This document analyzes various performance measurements of the KeyStone Architecture C66x device. It provides a throughput analysis of the various DSP support peripherals as well as EDMA transfer time

TPS54620 Parallel Operation

Texas Instruments
The TPS54620 is a synchronous step-down dc-dc converter with integrated high- and low-side FETs. It is rated for a continuous output of 6 A. In order to increase the output current capability it is possible to operate two TPS54620 circuits in parallel. Certain techniques are required in the design to ensure that each of the TPS54620 converters provides an equal share of the output current. T

SC Temp Sensors Challenge Precision RTDs and Thermistors in Build Automation

Texas Instruments

Standalone semiconductor sensors have rarely been considered for implementation into sensor probes or assemblies due to their larger geometries. However, advances in process technology and design have led to new, tiny sensor structures with almost linear transfer functions. In order to provide system designers with this new low-cost alternative to precision temperature measurement, this application report discusses the new LMT70 temperature sensor, whose footprint is less than 1 mm2 , while its parametric performance challenges the accuracy of RTDs at cost levels lower than those of thermistors.

Combining an Amplifier with the BUF634

Texas Instruments
The following application note descibes a combination using an op amp with the high-speed buffer BUF634 located in its feedback loop. Depending upon the op amp selected large signals with output currents of over 500mA into the MHz range can be attained.
