High Availability High Speed Counter (HSC) and Pulse Train Output (PTO) Reference Design

Description

This reference design provides firmware and test platform for two different industrial input/output functions related to motion control: high-speed counter (HSC) and pulse-train output (PTO). The design is based on a microcontroller platform that is suitable for use in industrial applications where high availability and/or functional safety are important requirements.

Features
  • High-speed (up to 400 KHz) 32-bit HSC counter with two-counter input pins: four-auxiliary input pins: two-input capture registers and two-compare output pinsPTO generates output pulse trains and trapezoidal profiles up to 100 KHz with 9.1-ns resolutionCount/Dir: clockwise/counter-clockwise and quadrature modesReduces CPU load and interrupt latency requirements by operating autonomously on N2HET-timing coprocessorReduces system cost by replacing FPGA or ASICIncludes N2HET firmware and test platform as well as host CPU-driver functions
Applications
  • Digital input module
  • Digital output module
  • Full authority digital engine control (FADEC)
  • DIN rail power supply
  • Mixed module (AI
  • AO
  • DI
  • DO)
  • Off-highway vehicles control
  • Train control & management
  • Condition monitoring module
  • Injection molding machine
Product Categories
  • Arm-based microcontrollers
