The MAXM86146 is the world’s smallest highly-integrated,optical data acquisition system. It combines Maxim's bestin-class optical biosensing analog front end (AFE) with apowerful Arm® microcontroller unit (MCU) and two highsensitivity photodiodes.The integrated MCU is an ultra-low-power microcontrollerspecifically designed for battery-powered devices andwireless sensors. It combines a flexible and versatile powermanagement unit that operates from a single 1.8V supply.It supports I2C communication protocol and is readyto be programmed with the latest firmware and world-classalgorithms for wearable applications including pulse heartrate (HR), pulse blood oxygen saturation (SpO2). The integratedalgorithms adjust the optical AFE settings to maximizeSNR while minimizing power consumption based onactivity classification.The optical AFE has two low-noise optical readout channels.Both channels have independent 19-bit ADCs andan industry-leading ambient light cancellation (ALC) circuitfor unparalleled ambient-light rejection in many scenarios.The optical AFE includes three high-current, low-noiseLED drivers and operates on a 1.8V main supply voltageand a flexible LED driver supply voltage.With the addition of external LEDs and an accelerometer(required), a complete system is achieved reducing timeto market and simplifying design.
