MAX5929ALEEG+

Part Number : MAX5929ALEEG+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX5927A/MAX5929A–MAX5929D +1V to +15V quad hot-swap controllers provide complete protection for multisupply systems. They allow the safe insertion and removal of circuit cards into live backplanes. These devices hot swap multiple supplies ranging from +1V to +15V, provided one supply is at or above +2.7V. The input voltage rails (channels) can be configured to sequentially turn-on/off, track each other, or have completely independent operation. The discharged filter capacitors of the circuit card provide low impedance to the live backplane. High inrush currents from the backplane to the circuit card can burn up connectors and components, or momentarily collapse the backplane power supply leading to a system reset. The MAX5927A/MAX5929A–MAX5929D hot-swap controllers prevent such problems by gradually ramping up the output voltage and regulating the current to a preset limit when the board is plugged in, allowing the system to stabilize safely. After the startup cycle is complete, on-chip comparators provide VariableSpeed/BiLevel™ protection against shortcircuit and overcurrent faults, and provide immunity against system noise and load transients. The load is disconnected in the event of a fault condition. The MAX5929C/MAX5929D automatically restart after a fault condition, while the MAX5929A/MAX5929B must be unlatched. The MAX5927A fault management mode is selectable. The MAX5927A/MAX5929A–MAX5929D offer a variety of options to reduce external component count and design time. All devices integrate an on-board charge pump to drive the gates of low-cost external n-channel MOSFETs, an adjustable startup timer, and an adjustable current limit. The devices offer integrated features like startup current regulation and current glitch protection to eliminate external timing resistors and capacitors. The MAX5929B/MAX5929D provide an open-drain, active-low status output for each channel, the MAX5929A/MAX5929C provide an open-drain, active-high status output for each channel, and the MAX5927A status output polarity is selectable. The MAX5927A is available in a 32-pin thin QFN package and the MAX5929A–MAX5929D are available in a 24-pin QSOP package. MAX5961ETM+T

Part Number : MAX5961ETM+T

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX5961 0 to 16V, quad, hot-swap controller provides complete protection for systems with up to four distinct supply voltages. The device allows the safe insertion and removal of circuit cards into live backplanes. The MAX5961 is an advanced hot-swap controller that monitors voltage and current with an internal 10-bit ADC. The device provides two levels of overcurrent circuit-breaker protection; a fast-trip threshold for a fast turn-off, and a lower slow-trip threshold for a delayed turn-off. The maximum overcurrent circuit-breaker threshold range is set independently for each channel with a trilevel input (ILIM_) or by programming though an I²C interface. The internal 10-bit ADC is multiplexed to monitor the output voltage and current of each hot-swap channel. The total time to cycle through all the eight measurements is 100µs (typ). Each 10-bit value is stored in an internal circular buffer so that 50 past samples of each signal can be read back through the I²C interface at any time or after a fault condition. The MAX5961 can be configured as four independent hot-swap controllers, hot-swap controllers operating in pairs, or as a group of four hot-swap controllers. The device also includes five digital comparators per hot-swap channel to implement overcurrent warning, two levels of overvoltage detection, and two levels of undervoltage detection. The limits for overcurrent, overvoltage, and undervoltage are user-programmable. When any of the measured values violates the programmable limits, an external active-low ALERT signal is asserted. In addition to the active-low ALERT signal, depending on the selected operating mode, the MAX5961 can deassert a power-good signal and/or turn-off the external MOSFET.The MAX5961 is available in a 48-pin thin QFN package and operates over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range.ApplicationsASICsDisk DrivesPCI Express® Hot PlugServersStorage Systems

MAX6620ATI+T

Part Number : MAX6620ATI+T

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX6620 controls the speeds of up to four fans using four independent linear voltage outputs. The drive voltages for the fans are controlled directly over the I²C interface. Each output drives the base of an external bipolar transistor or the gate of a FET in high-side drive configuration. Voltage feedback at the fan's power-supply terminal is used to force the correct output voltage. The MAX6620 offers two methods for fan control. In RPM mode, the MAX6620 monitors four fan tachometer logic outputs for precise (±1%) control of fan RPM and detection of fan failure. In DAC mode, each fan is driven with a voltage resolution of 9 bits and the tachometer outputs of the fans are monitored for failure. The DAC_START input selects the fan power-supply voltage at startup to ensure appropriate fan drive when power is first applied. A watchdog feature turns the fans fully on to protect the system if there are no valid I²C communications within a preset timeout period. The MAX6620 operates from a 3.0V to 5.5V power supply with low 250µA supply current, and the I²C-compatible interface makes it ideal for fan control in a wide range of cooling applications. The MAX6620 is available in a 28-pin TQFN package and operates over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range.ApplicationsCommunications EquipmentConsumer ProductsServersStorage Equipment

MAX7357ETG+

Part Number : MAX7357ETG+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX7356/MAX7357/MAX7358 8-channel I²C switches/multiplexers expand the main I²C bus to any combination of 8 extended I²C buses. They enable a master on the main bus to isolate and communicate with devices or groups of devices that may otherwise have slave address conflicts. Any extended bus can be connected or disconnected by control packets from the main I²C bus writing to the main control register of these I²C switches. The MAX7357 and MAX7358 feature an enhanced mode that includes a built-in timer used to monitor all extended buses for lock-up conditions. If the clock or data line of any of these buses is low for more than 25ms (typ), a lock condition is detected. An optional interrupt can be generated through the bidirectional active-low RST/active-low INT. The master can read the bus lock-up register to find out which extended bus is locked up. The master can also enable the MAX7357 or the MAX7358 to send a 'flush-out' sequence on the faulty channel. There is an optional preconnection check that can be enabled to toggle the extended bus clock and data line low then high to ensure the downstream bus is not locked high prior to connecting it to the host bus.The MAX7356/MAX7357/MAX7358 are transparent to signals sent and received at each channel, allowing multiple masters. Any device connected to an I²C bus can transmit and receive signals; however, only the master connected to the host side of the MAX7356/MAX7357/MAX7358 should address the device. The MAX7356/MAX7357/MAX7358 are available in 24-pin TSSOP and TQFN packages and are specified over the extended -40°C to +85°C temperature range.ApplicationsBase StationsControl and Automation DevicesNetworking EquipmentRAIDServersSFP Control Interface

MAX8792ETD+

Part Number : MAX8792ETD+

Analog Devices Inc.
The MAX8792 pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller provides high efficiency, excellent transient response, and high DC-output accuracy needed for stepping down high-voltage batteries to generate low-voltage core or chipset/RAM bias supplies in notebook computers. The output voltage can be dynamically controlled using the dynamic REFIN, which supports input voltages between 0 to 2V. The REFIN adjustability combined with a resistive voltage-divider on the feedback input allows the MAX8792 to be configured for any output voltage between 0 to 0.9 VIN.Maxim's proprietary Quick-PWM™ quick-response, constant-on-time PWM control scheme handles wide input/output voltage ratios (low-duty-cycle applications) with ease and provides 100ns 'instant-on' response to load transients while maintaining a relatively constant switching frequency. Strong drivers allow the MAX8792 to efficiently drive large synchronous-rectifier MOSFETs.The controller senses the current across the synchronous rectifier to achieve a low-cost and highly efficient valley current-limit protection. The adjustable current-limit threshold provides a high degree of flexibility, allowing thermally compensated protection using an NTC or foldback current-limit protection using a voltage-divider derived from the output. The MAX8792 includes a voltage-controlled soft-start and soft-shutdown in order to limit the input surge current, provide a monotonic power-up (even into a precharged output), and provide a predictable powerup time. The controller also includes output fault protection— undervoltage and overvoltage protection—as well as thermal-fault protection. The MAX8792 is available in a tiny 14-pin, 3mm x 3mm TDFN package. For space-constrained applications, refer to the MAX17016 single step-down with 10A, 26V internal MOSFETs available in a small 40-pin, 6mm x 6mm TQFN package.ApplicationsDDR Memory—VDDQ or VTTGPU Core SupplyI/O and Chipset SuppliesNotebook ComputersPoint-of-Load ApplicationsStep-Down Power Supply
