LTC6810-1 Demo Board | 6-Channel Battery-Stack Monitor with Daisy-Chain Interface

Analog Devices Inc.
Demonstration circuit 2515B features the LTC6810-1, a 6-channel battery-stack monitor. Multiple boards can be linked through a 2-wire isolated serial interface (isoSPI™) to monitor a long series of cells in a stack. The DC2515B demo board also features reversible isoSPI enabling a redundant communication path. The PCB, components, and DuraClik connectors are optimized for Low EMI Susceptibility and Emissions. The DC2515B can communicate to a PC by connecting a DC2792B dual master isoSPI together with DC2026 Linduino® One. The DC2026 must be loaded with the appropriate program (called a sketch) to control the battery stack monitor IC and receive data through a USB serial port. The DC2026C provides a standard SPI interface which can be translated to isoSPI and then connected to a DC2515B isoSPI port (J4 or J5 connector). The DC2792B companion board provides two SPI-isoSPI channels for reversible operation.

The LT8672 is an active rectifier controller for reverse input protection. It drives an external N-channel MOSFET to replace a power Schottky diode. Its very low quiescent current and fast transient response meet the tough requirements in automotive applications where AC input signals of up to 100kHz are present. These signals are rectified with minimum power dissipation on the external FET, simplifying thermal management on the PCB.With a drop of only 20mV, the LT8672 solution eases the minimum input voltage requirement during cold crank and start-stop, allowing simpler and more efficient circuits. If the input power source fails or is shorted, a fast turn-off minimizes reverse current transients. An available shutdown mode reduces the quiescent current to 3.5?A.An integrated auxiliary boost regulator provides the required boost voltage to turn the external FET fully on. Analog Devices Inc.
Demonstration circuit 2624A features the LT3094, an ultralow noise, ultrahigh power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) negative low dropout (LDO) regulator. DC2624A operates over an input range of –3.8V to –20V, and can deliver up to 500mA output current. It features ultralow noise (0.8µVRMS from 10Hz to 100kHz) and very high PSRR (75dB at 1MHz). The LT3094 enable function (EN/UVLO pin) is bidirectional and can be controlled with either a positive or a negative voltage. The LT3094 also offers programmable current limit functionality by connecting a resistor from ILIM to GND. Current monitoring is also achieved by sensing the ILIM pin voltage. The VIOC tracking function controls an upstream switching converter to maintain a constant voltage across the regulator and, hence, minimize power dissipation. The power good feedback (PGFB) pin is used to set a programmable power good threshold, and activates the fast start-up circuitry. To use the power good function, connect an external voltage source at VEXT. If power good and fast start-up functionality are not needed, tie PGFB to IN. Built-in protection includes reverse battery protection, reverse current protection, internal current limit with foldback, and thermal limit with hysteresis. The LT3094 data sheet gives a complete description of the part, operation and applications information. The data sheet must be read in conjunction with this demo manual for demonstration circuit DC2624A. The LT3094 is assembled in 12-lead MSOP and 3mm × 3mm DFN packages with an exposed pad on the bottom-side of the IC. Proper board layout is essential for maximum thermal performance.

LT8392 Demo Board | 3V Minimum VIN, 12VOUT High Power Synchronous 4-Switch Buck-Boost Regulator

Analog Devices Inc.
Demonstration circuit DC2626A is a 4-switch synchronous buck-boost regulator that demonstrates the high power capability of the LT8392. The output is 12V and the maximum output current is 12A for up to 144W power delivery. The switching frequency is 200kHz and efficiency can exceed 97%. The steady-state operating input voltage range of DC2626A in which the temperature of the components is less than 90°C is from 9V to 18V. The transient operating input voltage range of DC2626A is from 3V to 36V. The output voltage and EN/UVLO are all programmed by resistor dividers. EN/UVLO is set so the circuit will turn off when the input voltage falls below 3V and will turn on when the input voltage rises above 4V. The PCB has large copper planes and extensive vias for excellent high power thermal performance. DC2626A features MOSFETs that complement the 5V gate drive of the LT8392 to achieve high efficiency. 40V AEC-Q101 MOSFETs are used on the input and output side of the four-switch topology. Ceramic capacitors are used at both the circuit input and output because of their small size and high ripple current capability. In addition to ceramic capacitors, there are bulk aluminum polymer capacitors on the input and output to make input and output stable during transient period. The CTRL input is pulled up to the VREF pin through a 0Ω resistor to set the output current limit to its maximum, and an external voltage on CTRL can be used to lower the current limit if the resistor is removed. A capacitor at the SS pin programs soft-start. To improve the EMI performance, the LT8392 has spread spectrum frequency modulation. With the SYNC/SPRD pin tied to INTVCC, LT8392 spreads its switching frequency ±15% around the programmed oscillator frequency. The PGOOD status flag indicates when output voltage is within ±10% of the final regulation voltage. The LT8392’s proprietary peak current mode buck-boost architecture ensures DC2626A runs either in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) or pulse-skipping mode (PSM) without reverse inductor current. Both modes enhance the light load efficiency. The demo circuit is designed to be easily reconfigured to suit other applications, including the example schematics in the data sheet. Consult the factory for assistance High power operation, 3V input voltage operation, 4-switch buck-boost topology, proprietary peak current mode architecture, fault protection and output current monitoring make the LT8392 attractive for high power voltage regulator circuits and also circuits whose input voltage drops to 3V such as cold crank of car battery. It is also suitable for output current regulation such as battery chargers. The LT8392JFE is available in a thermally enhanced 28 lead TSSOP package. The LT8392 data sheet must be read in conjunction with the demo manual to properly use or modify demo circuit DC2626A.
