Interfacing the TMS320C5402 DSP to the TLV2541 ADC and the TLV5636 DAC (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
This report shows how to interface TLV2541 and TLV5636 12-bit serial data converters to the TMS320C5402<TM> DSP via the McBSP. It presents a hardware solution and a software solution to interface the

Comparing Bus Solutions (Rev. B)

Texas Instruments
The strong interest in this application report leads us to publish a second edition. In addition to changes and updates made throughout all sections, new parts have been added, such as M?LVDS, CAN, Cl

Interfacing the 3-V MSP430 to 5-V Circuits

Texas Instruments
The interfacing of the 3-V MSP430x1xx and MSP430x4xx microcontroller families to circuits with a supply of 5 V or higher is shown. Input, output and I/O interfaces are given and explained. Worse-case

DN-77 Overcurrent Shutdown with the UC3853

Texas Instruments
Boost converters are susceptible to large inrush currents at startup and with step changes in VLINE because the output capacitor is connected directly to the input through the boost diode. This design note describes and provides a schematic for a circuit that provides overcurrent shutdown using the UC3853 High Power-Factor Preregulator. The UC3853 provides simple yet high-performance active power

Interfacing the TLV2544/TLV2548 ADC to the TMS320C5402 DSP (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments

This application report presents a hardware and software solution for interfacing the TLV2544/TLV2548 12-bit, 200-ksps, 4/8-channel, low-power, serial, successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) to the 32-bit floating point TMS320C3X digital signal processor (DSP) through the use of the TMS320C31 DSP starter kit (DSK).

A digital-to-analog converter (DAC) interface to the DSP is also presented here exclusively for the single-shot mode operation of the ADC, since the DAC is used to reconstruct the digital data from the ADC for verification purposes. The TLV5618A DAC is used for this report.

Power Estimation and Pwr Consumption Sum for TMS320C5504/05/14/15/32/33/34/35

Texas Instruments
This application report assists in estimating the power consumption for the TMS320C5515, C5504, C5505, C5514, C5532, C5533, C5534, and C5535 devices (DSPs), using a power estimation spreadsheet.

Closed Loop Temperature Regulation Using the UC3638 H-Bridge Motor (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
Forced air systems that direct temperature controlled air to a specific area are available but are large cumbersome and expensive. This application report describes a portable low cost temperature forcing system.

New Ultra High-Speed Circuit Techniques with Analog ICs

Texas Instruments
With the increasing use of current-feedback amplifiers the Diamond Structure has come to play a key role in today's analog circuit technology. Two new macro elements that function in this structure are the Diamond Transistor and its abridged version the Diamond Buffer. These elements can be used for both voltage and current control of analog signals up to several 100MHz. The OPA660 combines both

LIN Demonstration using PGA450Q1EVM Firmware Rev 2.1 (Rev. A)

Texas Instruments
This demonstration is intended to illustrate the method of using the internal 8051 MCU firmware of the PGA450-Q1 device to calculate the time of flight (tof) using LIN communication to trigger a distance computation. The settings for short distance measurements have been updated from Rev. 2.0 to Rev 2.1 of the firmware. Differences include an optimized threshold algorithm (optimized for the TI set

Designing Fault Protection Circuits Using Wide VIN LM5121

Texas Instruments
Battery powered systems or systems with low input voltage supplies may have loads that require higher voltage outputs. A boost converter is a usual choice for non-isolated applications; however boost converters do not naturally provide system protection to downstream circuitry due to the pass path from input to output. Problems due to this pass path are now resolved with the LM5121 boost controll
