Texas Instruments

Efficient: Step-down: High-power LED Driver with Strobe and Synchronization for Fire Alarms

Description

This reference design demonstrates an efficient: step-down: high-power LED driver with strobe and synchronization for fire alarms. A 3-A LED is driven from a common: quasi-regulated 12-V input bus at over 85% efficiency. The circuit supports a clock input for the strobe function which allows synchronization of multiple LED drivers to a common clock source.

Features
  • LED current of up to 3 A4.5-V to 17-V input voltage rangeSynchronizable to an external clock signalSupports PWM and/or analog dimming: including strobeOver 85% efficiencyTested hardware with a test report and all design files
Applications
  • Smoke & heat detector
  • Gas detector
  • Fire safety sounder
  • speaker
  • strobe
