Tesla Motors

Description

Founded in 2003 in Silicon Valley, USA, Tesla Motors is headed up by CEO Elon Musk with the mission to produce and market a fully electric car that would out-perform a normal gasoline powered car in terms of both design, functionality and key performance targets in every single way.
The Tesla name pays homage to the inventor Nikola Tesla, a Serbian American who in 1888 patented an alternating current (AC) induction motor - the technology of which was the basis for the powertrain for the first Tesla Motor, the Roadstar which was unveiled in 2008.

Tesla is now most well known for its 2012 launched Model S - billed as the world's first premium electric sedan (saloon) , and plan to launch the all new Model X into full production in 2015, with delivery estimates expected for early 2016 for the full-size crossover utility vehicle (CUV) which is expected to be four-wheel drive only with dual electric motors and the special 'Falcon Wing' rear doors.
