Description

OSRAM was founded in 1906 as a brand name - created as an amalgamation of the words, Osmium and Wolfram, these being the two materials required at the time to make filaments. In 1919 OSRAM itself was founded as a company in Germany formally known as OSRAM Werke GmbH Kommanditgesellschaft. The company is now named as OSRAM Licht AG, but since its conception until now has continually been known as a major global figure in the design, production and supply of lighting products and accessories.
