Description

LAPIS Semiconductor, founded in 2008, is a company that specialises in the manufacture of semiconductor products. LAPIS Semiconductor, now a part of the ROHM Group, was originally located in Yokohama, Japan. 

ROHM completed the acquisition of LAPIS Semiconductor on November 7th 2023. The acquisition involved the assets from Solar Frontier's former Kunitomi Plant which is now operated by LAPIS Semiconductor as its Miyazaki Plant No.2. This facility aims to become the group's main production site for SiC power devices and is expected to start operation during 2024. On April 1st 2024, ROHM conducted an absorption-type merger.
