Kionix was founded in 1993 in Ithaca, New York, USA and acquired by ROHM in 2009. Rohm's acquisition was part of its aim to expand its portfolio of semiconductor and sensor technologies and in turn strengthen its position in the industry.
Kionix specialises in designing and manufacturing Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) inertial sensors, including gyroscopes, accelerometers and inertial measurement units (IMUs).
